The Slingshot Direct Drive Control Bar may be the most innovative for 2008. The new Slingshot Control Bar design is centered around the Center Safety System.

This system gives the rider as close to 100% depower as is currently possible. The leash is connected below the bar to one of the front power lines to the kite.

If the rider releases the bar or activates the Quick Release System the kite will completely flag out. This effectively eliminates nearly all pull from the kite as the kite falls from the sky to the side of the wind window; there it is then ready for a relaunch.

To relaunch, recover the bar and let the line back towards the kite to tension all four lines. Pull and hold taunt on of the back steering lines to initiate the kite for relaunch. It acts the similar to a 5th line Control Bar but with only four lines.
